Welcome to What The Craggus Saw!

This blog is mostly about movie reviews, but sometimes it’ll branch out into TV reviews and occasionally blogs about things which might only be vaguely, tangentially connected to movies or TV, or basically anything else which piques my interest.

There’s a search button at the foot of the page if you want to see whether I’ve already reviewed a film you’re interested in, and if I haven’t – feel free to send me a message or leave a comment on the blog’s Facebook page asking me to pull my finger out and review it already.

You can follow What The Craggus Saw on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Google+ (although I think Google+ has stopped working and as nobody ever goes there, I haven’t tried to sort it out) or you can follow/ subscribe directly from WordPress. If you just want to get straight to the movie reviews CLICK HERE or use the search box at the foot of the page, otherwise read on to discover:

Who Is

Craggus Logo3

I’m just a guy who loves the cinema and movies in general. Yeah, to be honest, I’ll mostly be covering genre stuff and a few cult TV shows but occasionally, I’ll watch a grown up movie and I’ll post a review of that too.

I don’t get to premieres or press screenings, I just go to the cinema as often as I can (and as often as my family will let me!) and I try to get to see films as soon after release as possible.

I started off giving films a score out of 10 on Facebook which became a couple of lines of comment and a score out of 10 and then a paragraph (or two) and a score and then I found I wanted to say more, so I’ve moved my reviews off Facebook and into the blogosphere (do people still say blogosphere?).

Mertmas LogoI try to avoid spoilers – at least for new films. If I’m doing old films or TV, I’ll discuss plot details if needed and although I have a bit of understanding of the technical side of film-making, I generally come at a film by how it made me feel and how much I enjoyed it. I’m also often accompanied by my nine year old son The Mertmas (his nickname/ nom de plume) so you get two perspectives for the price of one and if you’re wondering if a movie is suitable for your kids, this might just be the blog for you.

We also feature occasional contributions from SweetieG, baker and horror movie aficionado. I live in hope that I’ll manage to get her to review something other than horror one day but so far…no luck!

Thanks for stopping by and reading. Please leave a comment or question or suggestion of a movie or TV show I should review.

  1. The reviews here are detailed, each element of a particular film is covered. I have noticed that review image, it makes this place cool. Your writing skills are really appreciable.

    • Not to my knowledge. The double ‘g’ is very important!

Looks like in the 1962 version it’s spelt ‘Cragis’ and in the 2009 short they go with ‘Kragus’. Perhaps we’re distant cousins?

I hadn’t heard of the film’s before so I’ll definitely be checking them out!

      • COTH is a hoot (have seen that character name spelled both ways, btw; I was lead to look up your blog after seeing your ID on io9). It’s been cited as “Andy Warhol’s favorite film.”

      • I’m trying to track down a copy. From Wikipedia, it sounds like it might have been the inspiration behind the ending to the recent reboot of Battlestar Galactica. If I can find it, I’ll review it!
